Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- The Korea Space Association has marked its eighth founding anniversary amid the daily-growing international attention and enthusiasm for the development and use of outer space, the common wealth of mankind, and the accelerated activities of the DPRK to attain a high goal of space science and technology.

The association, organized on April 30, Juche 105 (2016) under the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK on independent space development, assumes a mission to speed up the development of space science and technology of the country and promote scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges with foreign space-related organizations and international organizations on the principle of complementing each other in order to contribute to the peaceful development and use of outer space.

As required by the present era when outer space is becoming an indispensable part of life for humankind, the association has conducted brisk space science and technology research, exchanges and cooperation activities at home and abroad over the past years, making a positive contribution to the country's exercise of the legitimate and just right to develop space, the economic construction and the improvement of people's living standards.

It, involving scientists, technicians in the field of space science and technology and teachers and researchers of universities, convenes more than two plenary meetings and consultative meetings annually according to its rules to review its work and discuss and decide on a detailed plan for further accelerating the development of outer space.

As part of its first work, the association sponsored the Symposium on Space Science and Technology-2016, and routinely organizes such a symposium to arouse public interest in space science and technology and boost technical exchanges among its members.

Symposiums appreciate papers on the validity and vitality of the DPRK government's policy of peaceful space development, legal interpretation of the space-related laws at home and abroad, the development and experimental technology of satellite equipment, satellite navigation, orbit and attitude control technologies and other practical and advanced technologies for manufacturing and operating a satellite, and agricultural production, forest protection and marine survey depending on satellite-based space information analysis technology, etc. Amid the work for putting excellent inventions into practice, encouraging achievements are made in the field of space science and technology.

The association has paid due attention to the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation in the field of development and use of space with space-related international bodies and foreign academic organizations, while taking an active part in scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation at space-related international symposiums and meetings.

Promising talents of space science and technology who graduated from Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology and other universities have joined the association, significantly increasing the number of its members, and space technology has been widely disseminated

The sci-tech achievements made by the members of the association in the core-tech research into the satellite manufacturing and application have proved successful along with substantial progress being made in the work for developing the space industry.

All members of the association give top priority to carrying out the advanced and valuable space development projects for the good of the strategic interests of the country to step up the development of space, while focusing on building full-fledged space industry by ceaselessly building on the existing achievements.

The Korea Space Association will as ever reliably guarantee the perfect and steadfast implementation of the national space development plan with excellent sci-tech achievements. -0-
