As the campaign for generally readjusting, reinforcing and further completing the country’s irrigation system is actively being pushed throughout the country, the construction and repair of irrigation waterway and underground water facilities planned this year have been wound up in the main.
The Kaechon-Lake Thaesong waterway and Phyongnam irrigation waterway have been overhauled.
Builders completed the repair which was planned for this spring, while ensuring the full operation of facilities including water pump and mixer and introducing valuable technical innovation plans.
Nampho City has rounded off the construction of irrigation diving pipe No. 4 of the Ryonggang main line waterway.
The city introduced rational working methods to remove over 1 000 cubic metres of earth and finish the disassembly of inverted siphon in a short time. And it pushed the making of iron pipe in close contact with skilled workers of the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, thus completing the laying of inverted siphon dozens of days ahead of schedule.
Meanwhile, workers who were engaged in the West Sea Barrage-inland waterway capacity-building project in South Phyongan Province have removed 450 000 cubic metres of earth in the 30-odd-kilometre waterway section ahead of schedule.
South Hwanghae Province has carried out a waterway project for irrigating vast fields with fresh water of Lake Kangnyong, while North Phyongan Province has concentrated efforts on the Woldo tideland waterway expansion project.
The construction and repair of underground water facilities have been carried out across the country, thereby building or repairing underground water facilities in thousands of places.
In North Hwanghae Province, the readjustment and reinforcement of irrigation facilities have been pushed substantially to finish scheduled underground water facilities in a short time.
South Phyongan Province has built and repaired underground water facilities to provide a foundation for attaining a grain production target despite unfavourable weather conditions.
Besides, South Hamgyong Province and other regions have concentrated their efforts on the construction and repair of irrigation waterway and underground water facilities.
