This year marks the 85th anniversary of the victory in the battle of the Musan area in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The battle in the Musan area organized and commanded by the great leader Kim Il Sung, a legendary hero of the anti-Japanese war, in May Juche 28(1939) showed that though the enemy clamoured that it had been annihilated, the Korean People's Revolutionary Army was not only as fit as a fiddle but also grew to be more powerful force and continued to deal a heavy blow at the Japanese imperialists.
The Monument to the Victorious Battle of the Musan Area with a bronze statue of Kim Il Sung was rebuilt more wonderfully on May 23, 2002. Over the past 20-odd years since then, it has been visited by officials of the Party and government organs and working people's organizations in the capital and the provinces, commissions, ministries, national agencies and armed forces organs, working people of many units including institutions, industrial establishments, farms and universities, service personnel of the People's Army and students across the country--nearly 2.2 million.
The visitors to the monument laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before the bronze statue of Kim Il Sung and paid homage to him.
