The following happened at midnight on June 25, Juche 39 (1950) when the US imperialists unleashed a war against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
President Kim Il Sung called an official of the Cabinet and said he planned to deliver a radio address to all the Korean people the next morning as regards the fact that the US and its puppet clique launched a sudden, all-out armed invasion of the DPRK, and gave him a relevant task to this end.
He said: Now that our people have faced a grave situation in which they will be reduced to colonial slaves of imperialists again or they will live freely in an independent and sovereign state, they will wait for our voice. Our radio address will display more powerful strength than any modern weapon.
At 10 am on June 26, his historic radio address “ Go All Out for Victory in the War ” resounded throughout the world.
Noting that the Government of the DPRK, having discussed the prevailing situation, ordered the Korean People’s Army to start a decisive counteroffensive action and wipe out the enemy’s armed forces, he called on all the Korean people to rise as one for the national-salvation struggle if they did not want to become the slaves of foreign imperialists again. His radio address was the DPRK’s answer to the aggressors.
He declared that victory would surely be with the Korean people. His radio address instilled in all the Korean people and KPA soldiers ardent patriotism, indignation against the enemy and conviction in sure victory and inspired them to the heroic struggle, shaking the Earth like a thunder.
Upon hearing his radio address, not only the KPA soldiers but also workers, peasants, intellectuals, the elderly, women and even children turned out in the do-or-die resistance to defend every inch of their country and their happy life at the cost of their blood.
True to the order of Kim Il Sung to frustrate the enemy’s invasion and launch a decisive counteroffensive, the KPA units beat back the enemy’s armed invasion and switched over to a counterattack, and fluttered the national flag over the enemy’s stronghold on the fourth day of the war.
The radio address, representative of indomitable revolutionary spirit, firm will and strong mettle to defend unto death the dignity and sovereignty of the nation, already determined the victory of the Korean people in the war.
