The DPRK embassy in Laos gave a reception on June 27 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Invited to the reception were the vice-prime minister and foreign minister who is member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, and personages of the government, political parties, organizations and institutions including the Commission for External Affairs of the party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, the Federation of Trade Unions, the Women's Union, the People's Revolutionary Youth Union and the Laos-Korea Friendship Association.
Present there were the DPRK ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Laos and staff members of his embassy.
Speeches were made at the reception.
The vice-prime minister and foreign minister of Laos said the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation provided by Kaysone Phomvihane, the respected leader of the Lao people, and Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people, have been carried forward with success and made a great contribution to the interests of the peoples of the two countries and to peace, stability and development of the region and the world over the past 50 years.
He expressed heartfelt thanks to the Party, government and people of the DPRK for sending their support and encouragement to national defence and the cause of nation building on behalf of the party, government and people of Laos. And he wished Comrades Thongloun Sisoulith and Kim Jong Un to lead the struggle of the two peoples for socialist construction to a new victory.
