Some time ago, researchers of the Faculty of Materials Science of Kim Il Sung University completed new sealing rings of compressors of different kinds.
Generally, sealing ring plays an important role in compressor and so, its service life can be said to be the normal operation time of compressor.
Such sealing rings were imported in many cases.
Researcher Ri Jun Gi says:
"If we fail to solve the urgent problems awaiting their solution in the national economic development, we can't say we are scientists who learned science and technology at the highest institute of the Juche-based education. So we boldly buckled down to the research into new materials needed for manufacturing the sealing ring.
There were many failures and we suffered manifold difficulties, but we tried hard to hit the high research target by pooling our wisdom and enthusiasm."
They delved into the world trend of development and data and repeated experiments. At last, they completed a plastic compound sealing ring with much longer service life in harsh condition than the original ones.
This result was recorded as a sci-tech success of the state and certificates of invention were awarded to a number of persons.
Always aware of their mission as scientists, the researchers are actively introducing the research success into major industrial establishments such as the Ryongsong Machine Complex, greatly encouraging the workers who have turned out to carry out the tasks presented at the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
