Education for the rising generations is regarded as the most important of state affairs in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In late July some areas of the DPRK suffered unexpectedly great damage by flood and downpour.

At that time the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un felt most painful, worrying about the people in the flooded areas.

He went to the site of flood damage in North Phyongan Province to command the rescue and evacuation of the residents and took positive measures for the recovery.

Some time later, he visited temporary lodgings where the flood victims were living despite steaming heat to console them.

That day, he said the knottiest problems during two or three months until the livelihood is stabilized after the housing construction are the life and education of children and students and added that nursing, edification and education are the most important of state affairs that can never be conceded even though the sky falls.

And he took measures to bring all the children and students of the families of flood victims to Pyongyang and give temporary nursing and education to them in a safe and convenient environment at the state expense.

It is inevitable that studies are suspended due to an unexpected disaster.

But Kim Jong Un attached importance to education as it is an important work that propels the development of the country.

When a number of cities and counties in North Hamgyong Province were greatly damaged by heavy rain between late August and early September in Juche 105(2016), too, he earnestly said precedence is given in the damage rehabilitation to the construction of dwelling houses, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, hospitals and clinics and of them, schools, kindergartens and nurseries should be built first. As a result, schools, kindergartens and nurseries could be built first in the afflicted areas.

In August 16 Kim Jong Un learned about the preparations for the education of pupils from the flood-hit areas and watched a demonstration lesson for a class of primary school pupils.

Looking round temporary classrooms for junior and senior middle school pupils, he called for paying special attention and sincerity to the pupils so that they can attend to their studies with diligence as all of them, who are to study there, are children the people in the flood-hit areas left in the care of the Party and the government, placing their wholehearted trust in them.

The children and students from the flood-hit areas got brighter and more cheerful. They will keep their stay in Pyongyang as the unforgettable days forever.
