Kim Jong Un University of National Defence, which has made distinguished contributions to building up the incomparably powerful self-defence capability of the DPRK, while glorifying its proud history and tradition as the country’s comprehensive base for education in defence science and technology in the long course of the revolution for accomplishing the great cause of building a rich country with a powerful army, is greeting its 60th founding anniversary with great pride.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited the university, the supreme temple dedicated to the training of talents in the Juche-oriented defence science and technology, on October 7 to congratulate its teaching staff and students on its 60th founding anniversary.

All the teaching staff and students of the university and the officials in the field of munitions industry and meritorious graduates, who visited their university, were full of great emotion and joy as they would get the greatest glory and happiness of receiving Comrade Kim Jong Un in the campus on its diamond jubilee at the time when socialist Korea is demonstrating its dignity and prestige all over the world with its tremendous defence capability rapidly growing stronger thanks to the Party's far-reaching plan for building a military power and its ever-victorious leadership ability.

As Kim Jong Un arrived there, enthusiastic cheers went up.

All the participants paid the highest glory and respect to Kim Jong Un, the symbol of the mightiness and ever-victorious banner of Juche Korea who ushers in a new era of the greatest and most dignified power in the history of the development of the DPRK with his iron faith, pluck, far-sighted wisdom and energetic and immortal leadership, as he regards the self-reliant defence as the mainstay of the defence and development of the revolution.

He received a salute from Col. General Jon Il Ho, president of the university.

An educator and a student of the university presented him with bouquets of fragrant flowers in humble reverence.

He warmly congratulated the reliable teaching staff and students who are upholding the Party's far-reaching cause of building a military power with the steadfast revolutionary spirit, matchless scientific and technological capabilities and proud academic achievements at the university, the source of the inexhaustible self-defensive military capability firmly guaranteeing the mightiness and invincibility of the state.

He was accompanied by Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Sik, first deputy department director of the WPK Central Committee, Jang Chang Ha, director general of the Missile Administration of the DPRK, Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Jong Kyong Thaek, director of the KPA General Political Bureau.

Saying that it is a great pleasure of the WPK and the people and an auspicious event of the whole country to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the supreme academy of defence science and technology of the DPRK, which was born with the most sacred and just mission and has added brilliance to its name with the proud feats and academic achievements that it made for the country and revolution, he warmly congratulated all the lecturers, researchers, officials and students of the university on behalf of the WPK Central Committee, the government and all the armed forces of the DPRK.

Clarifying the immutable truth that the university of national defence is the most precious strategic asset for the revolutionary Party and people, he referred to the historic significance of the founding of the university which was born 60 years ago as a creation of the steadfast revolutionary will of the WPK to defend to the end the gains of the revolution won at the cost of blood by firmly holding its destiny in its own hands and the crystallization of its firm faith and ideal to provide an eternal guarantee for dignity and prosperity by building up great strength, and to its proud history and remarkable feats.

Analyzing the true colours and unchangeable nature of the imperialist aggressive entity which the DPRK has been confronting and its ever-more frantic provocative acts, he demonstrated the perfectness and validity of the DPRK's logic of building self-defence capability that it should have physical strength capable of always deterring the enemy and keeping the situation under control. He solemnly declared that the WPK and the government of the DPRK would never allow the balance of forces to be disrupted on the Korean peninsula, but bring about a continuous leap forward in defence science and industry and limitlessly bolster up the war deterrent for self-defence.

Underscoring the need to neutralize the imperialists' aggressive and adventurous military activities with absolute superiority of the Juche-oriented defence sci-tech capabilities, he set forth the basic duty the university assumes in accomplishing the important historic mission and just cause of building a new world, in which war, hegemony and injustice are not tolerated, by dint of the Juche-oriented weapons loaded with the might of revolutionary ideology and the spirit of death-defying resistance, and important tasks for fulfilling it.

Expressing the firm will of the Party Central Committee to successfully build the university into the supreme temple where the revolutionary talents and world-famous inventors representing the future of the DPRK's munitions industry and defence science are continually trained and into a prestigious and renowned defence science research centre, so as to guarantee the eternal well-being and prosperity of the country, he expressed belief that all the lecturers, researchers, students and graduates of the university would demonstrate forever the supremacy of the revolutionary industry with the fruition of noble revolutionary spirit and educational development and excellent academic successes and powerful entities, mindful of the expectations of the Party, country and people.

When he finished his speech, the participants responded with cheers of single-hearted loyalty as they looked up to the great teacher who clarified the great strategy of struggle for firmly defending and glorifying forever the ever-victorious prestige and honour of our state gained with the great revolutionary ideology and indomitable spirit and through the costly struggle and has guided the defence scientists in the drive to break through the cutting edge for boosting the defence capabilities.

He extended militant greetings to the teaching staff, students and graduates who were filled with the burning enthusiasm to absolutely guarantee the implementation of the Party’s national defence policy with death-defying patriotic devotion, steady exertions and remarkable educational and scientific achievements by redoubling the absolute sense of mission they have assumed before the Party, revolution, country and people.

He went round the room for education in the revolutionary history and the room dedicated to the history of the university.

He recalled with deep emotion the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who declared the establishment of the centre for training talents in defence science and technology for the eternal dignity and might of the Korean revolution in the first half of the 1960s when the historic advance for the simultaneous promotion of economic construction and defence buildup, the embodiment of the WPK's idea of defending the country by national efforts, started and who developed it into a national defence university with worldwide prestige and reputation.

Saying that the proud history of the university, which has produced more than 180 DPRK heroes and labour heroes and dozens of winners of the highest orders in the past 60 years, is the epitome of the brilliant feats it performed as it played a core and pivotal role in accomplishing the historic cause of increasing national self-defence capabilities, he noted that the legendary reputation of the university, which has paved the way for the victorious advance of the country with loyalty to the Party and the revolution and great ability, should flutter as a banner in the vanguard of the struggle for securing the greatest military technological capability in the world.

The present world in which the destiny of a country and nation is decided by the national defence capability clearly proves that there is a sure guarantee for the existence of a state and its prosperity in systematically training a large contingent of talented personnel in the field of defence science and technology who have made the validity of their cause and ardent patriotism part of their mental qualities, he said, urging the university to train more revolutionary talents representing the future of the munitions industry and defence science, directly related to the future destiny of the country and revolution, and thus fulfill the important mission it has assumed before the times.

He repeatedly stressed the steadfast will of the Party to develop the university into the best one with the highest ability in the country and the most prestigious research-type one in the world where the integration of education, scientific research and production has been realized on the highest level, and took a benevolent measure to successfully spruce up its educational conditions and environment in a comprehensive way as required by the new era.

He met the meritorious officials, scientists and technicians in the field of national defence industry, who visited their alma mater on the occasion of its diamond jubilee, and had a picture taken with them.

Then he had a photo session with the teaching staff and students of the university greeting its 60th founding anniversary, which will be eternally recorded in the history.

All the teaching staff, students and graduates extended their gratitude to the benevolent father who visited the university to illuminate the path of a new revolution in the defence education with his original ideological and theoretical wisdom and extraordinary scientific insight and to show them warm love.

All the teaching staff and students raised stormy cheers out of loyalty and resolution while warmly seeing off Kim Jong Un who was leaving the university after showing love and trust to be handed down through generations.

The noble trace left by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in the pedigree institution for training talents in defence science and technology will shine forever in history as a significant occasion which injected great vitality into the implementation of the WPK's far-reaching strategy for further consolidating and glorifying the irreversible position of the DPRK, which has emerged as the world’s military power, and as an important milestone in the revolution in national defence education.
