Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received a message of greeting from Bashar Al-Assad, president of the Syrian Arab Republic, on October 7.
In the message Bashar Al-Assad extended congratulations to Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.
The WPK has honourably defended the freedom and independence of the country by leading the Korean people and rallied all the people to lay the foundations of socialism and build a prosperous and powerful country, he noted.
The Baath Arab Socialist Party and the WPK are adhering to the firm principles and ideals and struggling together to attain the noble goal that conforms not only to the interests of the peoples of Syria and the DPRK but also to the peace, security and prosperity of the whole world, he said, adding:
We will make joint efforts with you to strengthen the relations between the two parties and develop the bilateral cooperation in conformity with the interests and well-being of the peoples of the two friendly countries.
He wished Kim Jong Un good health and happiness, hoping that the WPK would always achieve success and prosperity and the DPRK would steadily develop.
