This year the Musan Mining Complex is endeavouring to provide a sure guarantee for increased iron ore production.
In December last year the complex held a consultative meeting on the first blasting for this year.
The major item was on refraining from small- or medium-scale blasting and venturing into 500 000-cubic-metre blasting, once a quarter at that.
“It was something we never dared to try in the past. As it used to take several months to make preparations for a large-scale blasting, it could be regarded as a big success to execute 500 000-cubic-metre blasting once a year,” said the general manager of the complex.
The complex immediately formed competent command and technical teams and launched undertakings for the success of the large-scale blasting.
A rotary drill operator drilled over 100 blast holes, each scores of metres deep, exceeding the monthly record. Many others also made innovations.
The complex’s industrial technology institute addressed a difficult problem arising in the production of materials for blasting.
In addition, the technicians at the complex established in a short span of time an effective base for producing bearing materials and succeeded in producing quality bearing steel.
Meanwhile, the complex, by relying on science and technology, solved the problems arising in improving the operation rate of rotary drills, technically upgrading large equipment and establishing rational blasting methods. All this led to increased iron ore production.
