President Kim Il Sung gave a lecture under the title of On Progressive Democracy to the students of the Pyongyang Worker-Peasant Political School on October 3, 1945.
Briefing on the then situation, Kim Il Sung clarified that which road Korea should take was a matter of vital importance affecting the destiny of the country and the people.
He said… today the Korean people want to take the road to progressive democracy that will, not in word but in deed, make the masses of people the masters of their country and make everyone free and happy. The road to progressive democracy is cherished by Koreans who were cruelly exploited and maltreated for long years under the feudal system and Japanese imperialist colonial rule, deprived of freedom and rights; it is a road that holds out the promise of grandeur and progress for the country and eternal prosperity for the people.
He said that it was necessary to set up an independent and sovereign state based on progressive democracy.
The 3-odd-hour lecture given by him that day completely touched the masses’ heartstrings.
Fully attracted by Kim Il Sung’s lecture, the students could not repress boundless respect and reverence for him by saying that it is the first for them to have such an excellent lecture that illuminated the road ahead of them like a beacon.
