Mother--this appellation represents love and devotion. Mother devotes herself to wonderfully bringing up her children and finds her greatest happiness in her grown-up children.

Rim Chun Ran living in Chilgol-dong No. 3, Mangyongdae District in the city of Pyongyang, has three sons.

Her sons with clear heads were called wonder boys. Seeing them, she decided to bring them up as scientists. So, she paid special attention to their studies. Coming back home from work, she checked their homework. She also prepared a number of problems for application together with her husband so that their children could solve them.

Once she severely scolded her eldest son who was not studying hard, believing in his good brain.

In the latter half of the 1990s when the country had a hard time, her family also suffered from difficulty in life. At that time, the three sons of hers were just before and after ten.

She worked hard at her workplace and did housekeeping more scrupulously while paying more attention to the education of her children.

"It is said from olden times that much effort is needed to bring up a child. It was really difficult for me to bring up my children born within a year of another. I wanted to bring them up well so that they could do something great for the country.

My sons had talent for mathematics and the state found it in the bud and made them develop it."

Under the benefits of the socialist educational system, her three sons were enlisted in the genius education system and finished their middle school course.

Rim Chun Ran is said to have shed tears for joy when her eldest son took the first place in the exam for entrance to higher school and the second and third sons became the winner and runner-up in the national maths contest.

She made devotion for her children, wishing them to grow into good scientists, which served as a stepping-stone for their growth.

After graduating from universities with honours, the three sons distinguish themselves in the fields concerned, displaying their abilities to the full. Especially, her youngest son awarded the prize of student scientific pursuit, contributed a number of theses to an authoritative international scientific journal while teaching at Kim Il Sung university and received a doctorate at the age of 31.

Rim Chun Ran with the son who became a doctor in his thirties took part in the Fifth National Conference of Mothers last year.

She said her lifelong desire to see the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in person came true and continued:

"I thought I had done what I should do while being faithful to my job. After participating in the conference, however, I often think I should do something more for the country.

So I showed my sincerity to the work for damage rehabilitation when some areas in North Phyongan Province suffered from flood this time. And I think I should help my sons do a lot of work for the country.

I got three sons married but it does not mean that I finished my duty as a mother. I will be faithful to the duty of a mother to make my children work harder."

Mother is appraised by the merits of her children.
