According to recent news, the U.S. Department of Commerce sent a letter to TSMC to demand curbs on exports of intricate parts to China that are 7 nm or more advanced in design, used in AI accelerators and graphics processing units.
In response to a related question, the press spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China revealed that the U.S. has constantly abused export control tools and further increased semiconductor export restrictions against China, resulting in the disruption of the global semiconductor market. The spokesperson denounced that this is a severe breach of international economic trade regulations, a flagrant interference in free trade and a typical non-market approach.
The spokesperson added that semiconductors significantly represent global cooperation between specialized industries, and stressed that this approach of the U.S. will seriously harm the interests of all parties and obstruct worldwide sci-tech exchanges and economic trade cooperation.
