People still vividly remember the township farm of Janggang County which got famous for initiating double- and triple-crop farming in the northern highlands in the days of the Arduous March and forced march.

Looking back upon the days, Heroine Pak Ok Hui, the then chairwoman of the farm’s management board,said like this.

Lots of difficulties and bottlenecks hindered us when we buckled down to the work to implement the teachings of Chairman Kim Jong Il that double-crop farming was quite possible in Jagang Province.

However, we braved severe difficulties with confidence that we could do it when we made persevering efforts.

In fact, the then conditions required extraordinary preparedness for them to do triple-crop farming. They suffered from unprecedented severe cold and lack of food.

But what disturbed them most was the fact that some people were pessimistic about doing triple-crop farming, which was hard to be done even in the flat areas.

Nevertheless, they dug the frozen soil out and picked up stones one by one in the icy riverside to build the foundations and erect walls.

Finally, they managed to complete the greenhouse, brought up stout potato plants and planted them in fields.

They made a fire at night when the temperature went down and used the water from the river in the dry seasons.

Indeed, it is the valuable truth proved by their struggle during the Arduous March and forced march that even a mountainous county can stand in the van of the times when they make endeavors with confidence in sure victory.

If We Do as Party Instructed Us

The working class of the Ryongsong Machine Complex already completed the compressor production task which was increased several times than the past. Not long ago, it has also completed the production of air compressor needed for the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex.

Whenever they read the articles reflecting the minds of working people through the Party organ they always made a firm pledge to bring about the innovative success in carrying out their task as befits the creators of the Chollima Spirit in the new era.

Nothing is impossible when we have the great trust of the respected General Secretary and all of us turn out to realizing the Party policy.

With such pluck they buckled down to the production and, during those days, they keenly realized once again that success in all work depends on confidence that they can do without fail.

Now, they are vigorously advancing forward with high confidence that they can do everything if they do as the Party instructed them.

What Is Stronger than Dam

The Kosong Army-People Power Station, another proud edifice which will contribute to the development of the region and improvement of people’s living standard, is showing its magnificent appearance from day to day. The commanders and members of the Kangwon provincial youth shock brigade have peculiar feeling as the completion day comes near, because they have successfully completed the waterway project which arose as the most difficult task.

In fact, they had no experience of building a waterway; furthermore, they could not transport the tunneling equipment immediately as that year’s snow was a rarity. But they never shrank back.

They, mindful that they are creators of the Spirit of Kangwon Province, winched the heavy equipment along the steeply slanting route. The confidence in their own strength and sure victory kept in their minds during those days was, indeed, stronger than the dam.
