2024 was a year of brisk scientific and technological exchanges in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Sci-tech festivals, shows, presentations and exhibitions took place one after another under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea to widely disseminate and share the sci-tech successes throughout the society.

Jang Hye Song, Official of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, said it is important to make more sci-tech successes by expanding the range of exchange, and added:

"We organized a lot of prize contests involving broad masses of people from 2024 and encouraged the workers and farmers to make proposals conducive to developing science and technology of the country, irrespective of occupations."

The 37th National Sci-Tech Festival was held under the subject "Scientific and Technological Guarantee for Attaining the 12 Major Goals and Implementing the 'Regional Development 20×10 Policy'". All sectors and units took part in the festival to widen their vision and constantly make creative suggestions while actively sharing research findings and technology.

It raised the efficiency of the sci-tech festival as a venue of brisk scientific and technological exchanges, discussion and debate by ensuring a closer creative cooperation between the participants.

As was already reported, the "National IT Successes Exhibition--2024" was held with success at Kim Il Sung University between September 18 and 25.

The exhibition held under the subject "Practical Guarantee for Implementing the Five-Year Plan and Active Introduction of Information Technology" was aimed at widely introducing, exchanging and disseminating the successes and experiences in the introduction of information technology and IT products and thus making a contribution to achieving a fresh victory in the comprehensive national rejuvenation with a strong IT trend.

It was held in the way of actual and virtual exhibitions. Presented there were more than 1,500 achievements and products made by over 480 units including ministries, national agencies, people's committees at all levels and lots of institutions and enterprises across the country. This showed an incomparable increase in its scale and figure as against 2023.

During the exhibition, experts in the field of information science and technology, officials of national agencies, those from provinces, students, researchers and technicians of scientific research institutions and youngsters sensitive to the new visited the exhibition to exchange and introduce successes, experiences and cutting-edge technology of the advanced units.

The exhibition served as an important occasion in accumulating experiences and laying a practical foundation for the development of the IT industry of the country.

Active efforts were made in 2024 to boost social interest in the dissemination, exchange and circulation of advanced science and technology and products and actively encourage their development and introduction.

It was clearly proved by the "Exhibition of Advanced Science and Technology and Products--2024" held between October 15 and 25.

The exhibition was attended by more than 480 units in the fields of metallurgical, chemical, machine-building and IT industries, agriculture, light industry and public health. Displayed there were real objects, miniatures and diagrams of over 2,200 achievements in the research, development and introduction of advanced science and technology which had been highly estimated at the national sci-tech festivals and sectional sci-tech successes exhibitions.

During the exhibition, diverse scientific and technological exchanges and dissemination actively took place, including the introduction of the research findings and products on display and their technical service and transfer of technology.

The exhibition made it clear once again that the aspiration for more advanced and development-oriented things becomes the trend of the times. It served as an important occasion in rapidly developing science and technology of the country to an advanced level.

According to experts, over 90 occasions of diverse exchanges including festival, exhibition, presentation and exposition were provided in 2024.

In the course, thousands of sci-tech successes and papers of new concepts and high economic effectiveness were exhibited and made public and experiences gained by the participating units in the production were widely transferred, shared and exchanged.

Indeed, the festivals, exhibitions, seminars, presentations and other occasions of diverse exchange served as significant opportunities to awake the scientists and technicians to advanced level, increase their zeal for work and sci-tech competition and encourage all people to take an active part in the scientific and technological exchanges.

When all regions, sectors and units actively pool, exchange and share their knowledge and experiences, it is possible to expand the possibility of development and, furthermore, make a contribution to increasing the scientific and technological might of the country and hastening the overall development of socialist construction. This is the truth taught by the brisk scientific and technological exchanges across the country in 2024.
