Enlarged plenary meetings of the Party committees of the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the Pyongyang Construction Commission, the State Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports were held to implement the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Present at the plenary meetings were members and alternate members of the Party committees of the relevant units, and officials concerned as observers.

The plenary meetings analyzed and reviewed in detail the work of last year for implementing the Party's decisions and seriously discussed measures to carry out the tasks facing the sectors and units this year on the basis of the important orientation of the struggle set forth at the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee.

The reporters said that the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK serves as a clear practical programme for raising the prestige of the DPRK higher and providing the people with greater happiness and a militant banner and powerful practical weapon for leading the whole Party and all the people to brilliant victory.

They referred to the need for all Party organizations and officials to enhance to the maximum the role as organizers and performers who inspire all the Party members and other working people to work hard to implement the plan and decision of the Party Central Committee and dynamically push ahead with the successful implementation of the fighting programme of the WPK.

They specified tasks and ways facing the Party organizations at all levels in detail in defending the 80th anniversary and the Ninth Congress of the WPK by successfully carrying out the five-year plan through a great change and vigorous advance true to the intention of the Party to wage a courageous struggle full of confidence for the great victory in 2025.

The plenary meeting of the Party committee of the Ministry of Railways stressed the need to concentrate the operation and direction of guidance on satisfactorily meeting the demand of the national economy for transport by vigorously pressing on with the modernization of railways and waging a dynamic drive for increasing transport capacity.

Measures for expanding the capacity of harbour facilities and improving the performance of cargo ships, boosting their operation and increasing the transport capacity by land were discussed at the plenary meeting of the Party committee of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport.

The plenary meeting of the Party committee of the Pyongyang Construction Commission discussed the issues of taking effective measures to complete major construction projects and improve the quality of constructions, modernize, readjust and reinforce the production processes of building materials and conduct vigorous organizational and political work of the Party with the main emphasis placed on the diversification and domestic production of finishing building materials this year.

Discussed at the plenary meeting of the Party committee of the State Academy of Sciences were measures to encourage the scientific circles to solve the scientific and technological problems which need urgent solution in various sectors of the national economy.

The plenary meeting of the Party committee of the Ministry of Culture discussed how to create masterpieces pulsating with the breath of the times and inspiring the masses and vigorously conduct mass cultural and artistic activities and how to improve the level and skills of the officials, creators and artistes in the field of creation.

The plenary meeting of the Party committee of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports dealt with the issues of putting the country's sports on the upward stage including those of improving the scientific level of sports through intensive Korean-style sports education and training and arousing public enthusiasm for sports effectively in various forms and ways.

The plenary meetings stressed the need to hold fast to the work of thoroughly establishing the unified leadership system of the Party Central Committee as the main line, enhance the militant functions and role of all Party organizations, further strengthen Party discipline and enhance the effectiveness of ideological work and thus display a sense of responsibility in the Party guidance for attaining this year’s fighting goals without fail.

Speeches were made at the plenary meetings.

The speakers expressed their determination to be always at the forefront of the worthwhile struggle to successfully achieve the goals set by the Eighth Congress of the WPK with courage and redoubled efforts true to the intention of the Party Central Committee to glorify this year as the historic watershed which occupies the most brilliant place in the history of the leadership of the WPK.

At the plenary meetings, there were sectoral consultative meetings for drawing up plans for thoroughly and perfectly implementing the Party's policies facing their units on the basis of the tasks set forth at the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Resolutions, which were worked out amid the high enthusiasm of the participants to attain the important goals for economic and cultural construction set forth by the Party Central Committee by redoubling the bravery, activeness, initiative and activity in implementing the Party's decisions with extraordinary efforts and responsible endeavour, were adopted at the plenary meetings.
