Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- Samjiyon City in Ryanggang Province of the DPRK, turned into a model of a mountain cultural town under the guidance of the great Workers' Party of Korea, is being renewed again into a more new and innovative town of civilization.

In November 2013, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited Samjiyon County (at that time) and guided the work of various sectors. And he clarified his will to make a great history of radical change in the sacred place of Mt Paektu where the Korean revolution started.

He established a well-regulated system for directing the project for sprucing up Samjiyon County in a unified way. And in July 2016, he saw to it that a powerful construction unit was organized, and clearly indicated all the issues for the construction project ranging from the name of the construction unit to fighting goal, period and the supply of equipment, materials and funds.

He personally examined at least 8 800 miniatures for the project, guiding the designers to develop their sense of discrimination.

In 2018 alone, he visited the county under construction three times to guide the construction project. Thanks to his devoted efforts, apartment houses and public buildings were designed in a unique way and various edifices including the Paektusan Museum, the Samjiyon Blueberry Drink Factory, the Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace and the Chonji Health Complex were built in a peculiar way.

An inauguration ceremony of the remodeled township of Samjiyon County was held with splendor on December 2, 2019 in the presence of the General Secretary.

The glorious place, where Chairman Kim Jong Il was born, was turned into a model of socialist mountain cultural town with modern civilization, strikingly displaying the firm faith and will of the WPK and the Korean people to glorify the immortal revolutionary history and exploits of the peerlessly great men for all ages.

A decree of the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on changing the name of Samjiyon County into Samjiyon City and naming its streets was adopted, and Milyong, Chongbong, Rimyongsu, Pegaebong and other streets came into being.

In July last year, the General Secretary gave field guidance at the construction of Samjiyon City, setting forth important tasks for sprucing up the appearance of the city in the light of requirements of the developing reality.

He expressed the plan of the Party to develop Samjiyon City into a typical mountainous town in the northern part of the country, a characteristic combined four-season mountainous tourist resort, to gratify the people's cultural and emotional demands on the highest level and revitalize international tourism.

The work is now going on in earnest to turn the city into a world-class mountain tourist destination by transforming the newly-built inns into hotels and developing more tourist resorts.

Under the wise leadership of the General Secretary, a world-startling change will be made again in the sacred place of the revolution in the near future and Samjiyon City will shine all over the world as a model and ideal city of socialism and communism. -0-
