The 13th National Cooking Contest took place at the Pyongyang Noodle House between the 4th and the 7th on the occasion of the auspicious national holiday in February when the great leader Kim Jong Il was born.
It was divided into the sector of ministries and national agencies, the sector of the Public Catering Service Guidance Bureau, the sector of public catering establishments in Pyongyang and provinces (cities directly under the central authority) and the external service sector. There were a contest for making national foods and different other dishes and drinks, an exhibition of famous dishes, a demonstration and an instant food contest.
The closing ceremony was held on the 7th with the attendance of Minister of Commerce Kim Yong Sik, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Association of Cooks, officials concerned, cooks and waiters and waitresses.
Results of judgment were made public and diplomas, medals and certificates awarded to excellent units and individuals.
