New age of rejuvenation comes

It has long been regarded as an inevitable convention and a matter of course that the provinces fall behind the capital.

But now it has become a history.

The erection of regional-industry factories in all parts of the country has brought about a new change in the life of local people.

Hamju County has widely been known as a rice granary in the country since ancient times. But it had to secure other things from different regions, including condiments, processed foods and daily necessaries as it had no proper regional-industry factories. Therefore, it has laid a foundation for achieving prosperity by the county’s own efforts.

In Unchon County there is a celebrated mountain of Kuwol, a scenic beauty on the west coast, but the residents had no especially famous goods and commodities. So they now say they have come to enjoy a new life of plenty thanks to the inauguration of regional-industry factories.

They are filled with the pride that new factories producing local specialities have risen up in the area famous for the hot spring with the largest mineral content among hot springs and for mineral waters in the country.

In Kyongsong County, well known for hot spring, the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm, a large-scale vegetable producer, was completed only a few years ago.  Now the residents unanimously believe that they will be able to enjoy a better civilized life as regional-industry factories have been inaugurated this year.

By relying on locally available raw and other materials

The Songchon County Foodstuff Factory produces jelly, jam and honey preserve with chestnut, their local speciality. And it also makes various other kinds of foodstuffs with locally abundant wild and other fruits such as acorn, wild grape and tara vine and magnoliavine fruits. The factory turns out more than 50 articles of foodstuffs in over a dozen kinds.

The Kyongsong County Foodstuff Factory turns out various foodstuffs like matrimony-vine drink and jelly and processed fish with the raw materials abundant in the area.

Yonthan County is widely known for rich Koryo medicinal resources and black chokeberry. The new regional-industry factories now produce black chokeberry syrup, fried glutinous rice cake, wheat and bean paste and other foodstuffs, garments and household goods which are winning huge popularity among the residents.

The syrup made with sweet potatoes by the Unchon County Foodstuff Factory is favoured by the local residents.

All these are the brilliant fruition of the plan and leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea for turning all the regions of the country into developed ones preserving their peculiarities.

High ideals are becoming a reality in which all the regions of the country develop simultaneously and all the people thrive and enjoy a happy and comfortable life all together.
