The great leader Kim Jong Il was always concerned about the people's diet and visited a lot of farms until the last period of his life, including the Migok Farm in the city of Sariwon of North Hwanghae Province well-known as a granary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
He called at the farm several times in his lifetime to brightly indicate the road ahead of it.
The Migok Farm reaped an unusually rich harvest in the autumn of 2009.
Kim Jong Il was very pleased to hear it.
He visited the farm on October 8 that year. Looking at the fields where the crops are abundant, he said such rich autumn scenery is peculiar only to the socialist countryside in Korea.
He noted that the seed problem is one of the most important issues for radically increasing the agricultural production and added that the farm should widely introduce good strains of seeds which suit the geographical features and give high yields.
He came to the farm again in March the next year.
That day he expounded in plain words the trend of agricultural development without using chemical fertilizer and agrochemicals and stressed the need to actively introduce new farming methods and techniques including organic farming. And he stated that the way to solve the food problem in Korea with limited area of arable land is to decisively raise the unit-area yield and, to this end, farm work should be done in a scientific and technological way.
Still remembered by the Korean people is Kim Jong Il who continued his field guidance to the farms in order to solve the food problem of the people.
