A national joint meeting of organizations of the Korean Children's Union was held in the capital city of Pyongyang on the 16th to celebrate the 83rd birth anniversary of the great leader Generalissimo Kim Jong Il.
Present there were students of the Mangyongdae and Kang Pan Sok revolutionary schools, delegates of the Children's Union organizations from the provinces, schoolchildren in the city of Pyongyang and pupils joining the Korean Children's Union.
Invited to the meeting were Choe Tong Myong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong Sun, Department Director of the Party Central Committee, youth league officials, and meritorious persons and labour innovators in the city.
A report was made by Mun Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League.
There was an accession ceremony to the Korean Children's Union.
The pupils joining the Children's Union took an oath led by Secretary Choe Tong Myong.
Officials, meritorious persons and labour innovators put red ties around the necks of the pupils and pinned badges on their chests.
Those joining the Korean Children's Union made the first salute as its members, loudly responding to the slogan "Let's Always Be Ready for the Socialist Motherland!".
Then, there were congratulatory speeches.
