The Ninth April Spring People’s Art Festival was opened with splendour in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, to mark the 113th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
The festival will draw artistic group members of different institutions, industrial establishments and farms. It is held, divided into a city and county (combined) artistic group category, an artistic group category of institutions, an artistic group category of industrial establishments and an artistic group category of farms.
An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre on April 10.
Present there were Ju Chang Il, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials concerned, festival participants and Pyongyang citizens.
Sung Jong Gyu, minister of Culture who is also chairman of the festival organizing committee, delivered an opening address.
The speaker expressed his belief that the festival would fully show the ideological and spiritual traits of the Korean people who are determined to support the ideology and leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un with loyalty and add vitality to the ranks of general advance stepping up the overall development of Korean-style socialism and declared the festival open.
Amid the playing of song “The Glorious Country”, the festival flag was hoisted.
There was an opening performance given by the artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe, National Folk Art Troupe and National Acrobatic Troupe.
