A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture on May 1 to commemorate the 135th May Day, an international holiday of the working people of the world.

Present there were Pak Thae Song, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Tok Hun, Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other senior officials of the Party and the government, officials of the ministries and national agencies, and officials and working people at institutions and industrial establishments in the city of Pyongyang.

Invited to the meeting were staff members of foreign diplomatic missions in the DPRK and overseas compatriots staying in the homeland.

When the meeting was declared open, the national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played.

Premier Pak Thae Song made a report.

He, upon authorization of the Central Committee of the WPK and the DPRK government, warmly congratulated the working people across the country including the workers, farmers and intellectuals, on May Day, who have turned out as one to accomplish the patriotic and sacred cause for prosperity and development of our great state and are striving to increase production and work miracles.

He said the working people led a worthwhile life as those strong in ideology and faith and ardent patriots in the bosom of the peerlessly great men Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and continued:

In the great Kim Jong Un era the working people with the greatest dignity and personality are confidently making a new turning point of leap forward and innovation in all fields of socialist construction.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un regards the working people as the God and brings them up as the justest and most powerful beings. His deep trust arouses the patriotic zeal of the working people across the country to the maximum.

The revolutionary spirit and brave advance of the working people, that become stronger in the practical struggle of epoch-making changes under the great leadership, are the eternal motive force for the overall prosperity and development of socialism.

All the working people should glorify this significant year marking the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK as a year of great victory and glory noteworthy in the history of strengthening and development of the WPK and the DPRK and vigorously turn out in the patriotic struggle for making a leap forward to a higher stage of building a powerful country, he added.

The reporter called upon all to wage a more dynamic struggle for the beloved country and for a brilliant victory in the cause of building a power with high honour and pride of being the builders of socialism in the great Kim Jong Un era.
