The Solar Plant Company in the capital city of Pyongyang has adopted various saving methods with great possibility of introduction, which are suited to its actual conditions, making a lot of economic profits.
Section Chief Sin Hyok said there are a lot of reserves for economization nearby, and continued:
"We made a collective discussion about how to make the most of the space. We decided to use the space in a three-dimensional way and built two blocks of greenhouse covering almost 100 square metres on the roof of the office building.
Usually, greenhouse has a glassed-in roof. In the course of collective discussion there was an opinion on using solar panels instead of glass.
We found that solar panels have better effect of heat absorption than glass and more space for their installation."
The company has installed more than 110 solar panels in several places including the roof of the building to produce electricity needed for its business activities. It puts the extra electricity into the national grid and uses solar water heaters as well, saving more than 10,000 kilowatts per hour on an average a year.
The company also recycles the odd ends of glass tubes coming from the production of solar water heaters to make beakers, flasks and other experimental apparatuses before sending them to educational units.
Like this, many units in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are actively tapping renewable raw-material resources to get greater profits.
