Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- The 21st Conference of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) was held in Namibia from May 22 to 25 on the theme of "Forward to our future!"
Present there were delegations and delegates of youth organizations from over 60 countries including the youth delegation of the DPRK headed by Kim Song Il, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, and diplomatic envoys of different countries.
Speeches were made there.
The head of the DPRK delegation said that the conference serves as an important occasion in organizationally readjusting and strengthening the WFDY and improving its activities as required by the developing reality.
He stressed that the DPRK young people would fulfill their international duty by defending peace and stability of the country and region in the van of the struggle for defending socialism and opposing imperialism and the U.S. and called for waging a dynamic struggle to build an independent and prosperous new world free from aggression and war, uniting close under the banner of the federation whose mission is to achieve independence against imperialism.
Delegates of youth organizations of Russia, Vietnam, Venezuela and other countries, who took part in the conference, denounced that the U.S., Japan and the ROK moves to fabricate the NATO of Asian version and their hostile policy toward the DPRK, nuclear war drills and sanctions and blockade against the DPRK destroy the situation on the Korean peninsula and global peace and stability and called upon all the member organizations of the federation to extend full support and solidarity to the struggle of the DPRK people and youth for independence, justice and socialism.
The conference adopted a political declaration of the federation and the "Solidarity statement of the World Federation of Democratic Youth to the DPRK people and youth struggling for independence, justice and socialism".
A leadership body of the Federation was newly elected at the conference.
The Socialist Patriotic Youth League of the DPRK was reelected as a member of the leadership body of the WFDY.
During the conference, there took place a march for solidarity against imperialism. -0-
