Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- An intensive short course for officials in the construction sector took place in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, from July 18 to 24.

The intensive short course was aimed at further enhancing the practical abilities of the officials in the construction sector and solving the urgent matters arising in carrying out the construction revolution, including qualitatively strengthening construction force.

Kim Jong Gwan, vice-premier of the Cabinet, made an opening address.

Noting that the intensive short course for officials in the construction sector is to be held thanks to the direct initiative and guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , he said that the construction sector is steadily expanding and developing as the main front symbolizing the dynamic advance and development of the state and that the completion of the grand construction plan designed by the Workers' Party of Korea urgently requires the rapid strengthening of the construction force.

Expressing belief that the short course would serve as an epoch-making occasion in ensuring that the officials in the construction sector take the lead in implementing the Party's idea and policy on Juche-oriented construction with their high political consciousness and technical and practical ability as the core and pivot of the construction revolution in the new era, he declared the intensive short course opened.

Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, courteously conveyed what Kim Jong Un said about the work of construction sector.

Then lectures were given on the theoretical and practical issues arising in the construction sector, including applying the Party's architectural ideals and construction policies in practice more correctly, firmly ensuring specialization in the organization and command of construction and rapidly accelerating the strengthening of the construction workforce with the main emphasis put on training skilled workers.

First of all, the short course discussed it as an important issue for officials to be well aware of the Party's policy-oriented requirements set forth before the construction sector recently and fulfill their responsibility and role as leading personnel in carrying out the construction revolution in the new era.

Explained at the short course were the issues for making all the architectural designs reflect the Party's Juche-oriented architectural ideas and ideals and steadily creating and developing new and unique architectural styles.

It also dealt with the ways for strictly meeting the requirements of designs in the construction projects and radically improving the officials' ability to guide construction.

Importance of the construction inspection was emphasized and there was a lecture dealing with the tasks and ways for strictly ensuring the structural quality by further strengthening the construction inspection.

A lecture on the proper organization and command of the project as required by the new construction revolution drew the attention of the audience.

Lectures, which explained rational methods for improving technical preparations for projects and ensuring the quality and speed of construction in combination with the experience data whose advantages and benefits were proved in reality, greatly helped the officials in the construction sector to enrich their knowledge and improve their professional qualifications.

A lecture dealt with the importance of timely measures to expand and strengthen the ranks of skilled workers in construction.

The lecture stressed the tasks for all the officials and commanding officers in the construction sector to thoroughly ensure the environmental culture of construction sites with a correct understanding that today's revolution in construction is a worthwhile undertaking to create the precious wealth of the country and, at the same time, a cultural revolution to lead people to the civilization of the new era and bring earlier a bright future, thus providing the builders with safer and more hygienic and cultural working conditions and environment.

There was a lecture to deal with the issues of saving even a gram of cement and a piece of steel bar and making effective use of them as much as possible without wasting by making effective reviews of the transport, storage, delivery and consumption of building materials.

During the short course, there was a video show introducing efficient and advanced construction methods, building materials and modern construction equipment and tools.

A demonstration at the construction site of the Kangdong County Hospital held during the short course became an effective process for sharing the model successes and experience created by the officers and men of the unit of construction educators and applying them to all construction units without delay.

Through the intensive short course, all the participants not only rearmed themselves with the Juche-oriented architectural idea and construction policy of the Party and acquired essential specialized technical knowledge but also fully shared and understood the experience gained in the past construction and made a fresh determination to fulfill their responsibility and duty in the vanguard of the gigantic construction revolution as intended by the Party Central Committee. -0-
