One day in August 2023, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Anbyon County, Kangwon Province on the east coast of Korea.
Just several days before, some fields in the county were flooded and covered in mud. But now the damages of the flooding were removed and the fields were undulating with golden crop ears. Feasting his eyes on the fields, he said with a beaming smile on his face:
The paddy fields of the Ogye and Wollang farms in Anbyon County have been restored to their original state. Several days ago a large area of paddy fields was flooded as river embankments were broken. Now the traces of flooding are nowhere to be seen. It is a great success that the farmlands damaged by flooding were restored to their original state in a short span of time, preventing negative effect on grain yield.
Noting that we recently mobilized the Korean People’s Army to the restoration project although the 250 or so hectares of afflicted fields were not a large area, he said: Just as we cannot yield even an inch of land to the enemy in the battlefield, we cannot lose even a single phyong of land to the frenzy of nature. The paddy fields, which suffered a natural calamity, can now produce a rich harvest thanks to the patriotism and loyalty of the service personnel.
Looking back, he, shortly after the area was stricken by a typhoon, saw to it that KPA soldiers were mobilized to the rehabilitation of the flooded fields. Then he personally came to the spot to take prompt measures to repair the river embankments as soon as possible. Inspiring confidence by saying that the damage could be removed, he ensured that necessary agricultural and technical measures were taken, including protecting crops to the maximum and taking prompt measures for nutritional management so as to prevent negative effect on grain yield.
And now he visited Anbyon County again.
That day he personally guided the work of spraying agrochemicals over the 250-odd hectares of paddy fields by light transport planes and helicopters of the KPA, while giving detailed instructions that the flight line should be chosen carefully, that the flight altitude should be maintained at an appropriate level and that agrochemicals should be sprayed by a formation of several planes and by an individual plane so that any area was not omitted.
True to his instructions, planes sprayed agrochemicals, repeatedly circling over the restored fields in Anbyon Plain.
