Vice-Foreign Minister Kim Son Gyong leading the delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea spoke at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly on September 29.

He said:

Modern history records numerous incidents and events, but never witnessed before was such practice as today that the norms and order of international relations established and consolidated since the founding of the United Nations are ignored and the sovereignty of sovereign states is openly infringed upon.

It is the reality that the overall world economy is still in stagnation and instability due to the indiscriminate tariff war on the whole world and even the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which committed itself to liquidating inequality and poverty and ensuring human dignity on a worldwide scale, is denied for the reason that it does not accord with the interests of an individual country.

Lurking behind all the chaos and sufferings of the world are the high-handedness and arbitrariness of the hegemonic forces trying to put the whole world within their rights and interests and their cupidity of putting their exclusive interests on the common interests of humanity.

The present objective security situation of the Korean peninsula faces more serious challenge than ever before. When the US-ROK and US-Japan military alliance and the US-Japan-ROK military cooperation system directly aiming at the DPRK are rapidly evolving into more offensive and aggressive military bloc including nuclear elements, the war exercises against our state and moves for bolstering up military forces are surpassing all the previous records in their scale, character, frequency and coverage.

As the physical war deterrent of our state has been strengthened in direct proportion to the augmented threats for aggression of the United States and its allies, the will of the hostile states to provoke a war is thoroughly deterred and the balance of strength ensured in the region of the Korean peninsula. In order to perpetuate this equilibrium and make peace of the Korean peninsula last, we stipulated in our constitution that nukes are sacred and absolute which can never be touched or changed.

President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un, at the 13th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly, made clear the stand of our Party and government to invariably, firmly and without a slightest deviation defend the Constitution of the DPRK and the basic law on the nuclear force policy, which has permanently codified our possession of nukes, and thoroughly safeguard the supreme interests of our state.

The DPRK is confidently advancing along the road chosen by itself without any vacillation and hesitation despite the world political storm, which is a brilliant result of the transparent independent spirit and correct leadership ability of the WPK and the DPRK government.

Colourful political and cultural events of commemorating the victory in the world anti-fascist war were held in different countries this year marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. It is a manifestation of the steadfast will of the just international community not to tolerate any attempt to deny the result of the world anti-fascist war and the national liberation struggle.

Kim Son Gyong strongly demanded Israel put an immediate end to its immoral crimes and withdraw from the Gaza Strip and fully supported Palestine's establishment of an independent state with east Kuds as its capital and its admission to the United Nations as a full-fledged member nation.

He said independence, peace and friendship are invariable ideals of external policy of the DPRK and stressed that the DPRK will, in the future, too, oppose and reject aggression, interference, domination and subjugation, cooperate with all the countries and nations aspiring after independence and justice regardless of differences in ideology and social system and develop many-sided exchanges and cooperation with those countries respecting the DPRK and friendly toward it.
