Pyongyang, October 12 (KCNA) -- The public procession and torchlight gala took place at Kim Il Sung Square on Saturday to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Amid the playing of state welcome music, Pak Thae Song and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other leading officials of the Party and government took the platform.

Also taking the platform were veteran cadres who had worked for a long time in important posts of the state, commanding officers of the large combined units of the Korean People's Army, labor innovators and persons of merit.

Present there on invitation were members of overseas compatriots' congratulatory groups and delegations, overseas Koreans, foreign guests on a visit to the DPRK and diplomatic envoys here.

Present at the reserved seats for guests were the participants in the celebrations of the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK, members of the relay teams carrying letters of loyalty, officials and working people of ministries, national agencies, institutions and industrial establishments in Pyongyang.

Ju Chang Il, alternate member of the Political Bureau and department director of the WPK Central Committee, made a speech.

Noting that the procession indicative of the single-minded unity, that will march past the Square of glory associated with the history of victory of our revolution, would be the solemn depiction of yesterday, today and tomorrow of the WPK with the unbreakable backbone braving harsh challenges and pressure, he stressed that it will demonstrate to the whole world the will of the new generations to remain boundlessly loyal to the socialist cause of Juche led by our Party.

The public procession began with a float in the shape of a model symbolic of the WPK at its head, amid the playing of song "The People Offer Glory to the Party".

The audience broke into enthusiastic cheers when the column of marchers holding the portraits of the generation who pioneered the cause of Party building and passionate loyalists who upheld the Party with transparent revolutionary faith and moral obligation entered the Square in festive mood.

The columns of marchers carrying the symbols representing the years of glorious struggle passed through the Square one after another, demonstrating how the 80-year-long history of modern Korea could shine at the peak of dignity and honor.

As the column of marchers escorting the portrait of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un entered the Square full of high praises for the sacred history of founding and building the Party, the audience was overcome with ardent admiration for him.

And it was followed by the column of marchers hailing the Party building, the column of workers beating drums, the column of floats, the column of acclaiming regional rejuvenation, the column of dancing agricultural workers and the column of rhythmically stepping schoolchildren. They were eloquently telling that the last decade has witnessed the new heyday of strengthening the whole Party, a brilliant new era of our state-first principle and the era of gigantic change in which both men and landscapes are transformed beyond recognition, and those are the immortal revolutionary feats that could be performed only by the great Comrade Kim Jong Un .

Then the column of dancers holding an extra big-sized national flag over their heads marched past the Square, together with the float carrying large slogan "Long Live the Great Workers' Party of Korea!". It demonstrated their unshakable faith and will to surely achieve the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee.

At the end of the public procession, colorful fireworks were set off to display a beautiful sea of sparks.

Then it was followed by torchlight gala of youth and students "Forward, Young Patriots, the Reserves of the Workers' Party of Korea!"

When the solemn melody of the revolutionary hymn "Ode to General Kim Jong Un " resounded through the Square, the venue of the gala was filled with ardent reverence of the youth and students for the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un , who created a new history of attaching importance to youth on this land and built a dignified youth power.

The columns of marchers depicting with torchlight the large letters reading "The Strength of Korea", "Banner of Victory", etc. demonstrated the passion of the youth always advancing straight along the Party, flying the flag of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League.

There appeared letters "People-first Principle" and "Land of Bliss" and pictures depicting monumental projects in the new eras of prosperity of Pyongyang and rural development, all of which were being presented by the torchlight, on the ground of the venue of the gala indicative of indomitable pioneering spirit and strong spirit of the young people who are performing miracles and feats in every field of socialist construction.

At the end of the gala, the columns of young vanguards depicting the emblem of the WPK and such large letters as "First Death-defying Corps" and "Glory to the Motherly Party!" passed through the Square amid the display of colorful and beautiful fireworks fantastically decorating the night sky of the capital city.

The public procession and torchlight gala for celebrating the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK powerfully demonstrated the true picture of single-minded unity peculiar to the DPRK where the Party and the popular masses formed a harmonious whole, its bright future and the invincible spirit of socialist Korea building a powerful and the happiest people's ideal society under the leadership of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un . -0-
