The 18th Pyongyang International Film Festival opened on the 22nd.
Its opening ceremony was held at the Pyongyang International Cinema House, which was attended by Vice-Premier Kim Myong Hun, officials concerned, creators and artistes in the filmdom, working people in the city of Pyongyang, and delegations and delegates of different countries and international jurors on a visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to participate in the festival.
Invited to the ceremony were members of foreign diplomatic corps in the DPRK and overseas compatriots staying in the homeland.
An opening address was made by Ri Song Un, Director-General of the National Administration of Motion Picture Industry, who is Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival.
The flag of the festival was hoisted and the international jurors were introduced.
Sergei Tyutin, Chairman of the International Judging Committee, made a congratulatory speech.
Then, festival prizes and films presented to the festival were introduced and a performance was given by artistes for the participants in the festival.
After the ceremony, the participants watched the Russia-China Feature Film "Red Silk".
