A technical team of the Paeksung Insulated Wire Manufactory under the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports has developed an oxidation technology for wire coating and established a production line for it.
The technology is about making an aluminum wire coated with aluminum oxide as the main element.
The light wire with good insulation property and active resistance to bending, heating and freezing is expected to replace enamel-coated copper wire, nichrome wire and other wires. It has bright prospects for more application.
Once the insulated aluminum wire is used in place of the enamel-coated copper wire to make and repair numerous electromotors and transformers across the country, it will save a considerable amount of copper. And it will also prevent the insulating layer of the wire from being burnt due to overheat from long operation and frequency variation, allowing for longer cycle of maintenance and normal operation of the equipment.
Various kinds of power-saving heaters developed by the manufactory over recent years are winning favour among customers as they save much power and have less heating time with more efficiency.
Air heater, radiator and water heater, all registered as a high-tech product, consume less power by over half than when they use nichrome wire, but the speed of heating is faster by more than four times.
The production line of the oxide-coated aluminum wire has been patented at home, and it draws attention in the academic circles for its remarkable economic efficiency.
