The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the State Affairs Commission, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea made public an obituary of the death of Kim Yong Nam on November 3.
The obituary informed the entire Party members and people of the death of Kim Yong Nam, the former Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, who rendered distinguished services in the history of strengthening and developing the glorious Party and the state, passed away by the multiple organ failure owing to a cancerous poisoning at the age of 97 at 12:00 of November 3, 2025.
Saying that his life was a brilliant one in which he had remained faithful to the revolution with the noblest honour, pure loyalty and high ability in the bosom of the Party and leaders, the obituary noted that he was born in the period of the colonial rule of foreign imperialism and underwent hardships and then after greeting the liberation in his youthful days when he was 17 years old his career of social activities was recorded with constant course of devoted activities for the prosperity and honour of the country and freedom and happiness of the people, and continued:
During the period of almost 80 years of revolutionary activities, he always served the Party, country and people with rich knowledge and high sense of responsibility and even in the period of his great age of over 90 he left precious books by devoting all his energies to writing them for handing down the proud history of the Republic which run through the victory and glory.
In his whole life he perfectly fulfilled the sacred duty of demonstrating the prestige of the country true to the cause of the Party and enjoyed respects and love of the Party members and the people for his modest yet dignified, honest and pure disposition. He will be alive in the memory of all as noble image of the veteran of the first generation of patriotic cause.
The feats achieved by him devoting all his life for the Party, revolution and people will shine brighter along with the future of the DPRK which will emerge victorious and Kim Yong Nam will be immortal as the veteran of the state in the great history and memory of the people, the obituary stressed.
