The whole country is extending warm congratulations to the mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day amid the ongoing campaign to usher in a new era of comprehensive national prosperity.
Mothers are essential in bringing harmony and happiness to homes and shaping the future of the socialist motherland. Their noble life and devotion are now shining as the quintessence of a true view of life and maternal love in the Korean society.
Many of the mothers have become heroines as they have invariably devoted themselves to the prosperity of the country and wellbeing of the younger generation.
Among them are a merited keeper who has worked at the Central Zoo all her life since her girlhood, a teacher at Jesan Primary School in Hyongjesan District, Pyongyang, who volunteered to look after a student suffering from an obstinate disease, and the headmistress of the Kyongsang Kindergarten who has trained many young musical prodigies.
On the occasion of the Fourth National Conference of Mothers held to mark the first Mother’s Day in November 2012, seven mothers were awarded the title of Labour Hero, the highest honour for DPRK citizens, as they gave birth to many children and raised them to be pillars of the country.
In April last year, three women were honoured with the title of Mother Hero. In all, many mothers across the country have received high state commendations.
The institution of the Communist Mother Honour Prize is the most valuable commendation and honour for the mothers.
The Fifth National Conference of Mothers was held in December 2023, in which the prize was awarded to the women who fulfilled their responsibilities and duties for society and their families and made distinguished contributions to the prosperity of the country.
Last year, it was bestowed on 21 mothers amid the nationwide movement to learn after the examples of the communist mothers.
They include those who brought up their sons as DPRK Heroes and Labour Heroes, those who inspired all their children to apply for difficult and labour-consuming jobs, those who devoted themselves to implementing the Party’s agricultural policy for decades, those who adopted and brought up orphans, mothers from educators’ and scientists’ families and wives of disabled soldiers.
It is the greatest pride and honour for the country to have many women heroes and women patriots who dedicate themselves to cultivating the cradle of our society beautifully, whatever their ages and residences.
