The Sunchon Catfish Farm is one of the leading catfish farms in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un called at the Sunchon Catfish Farm on November 27, 2017.
That day, he gave important instructions on the knowledge of advanced fish farming to the officials and employees of the farm.
Dropping in at the hatching and young catfish breeding block, he explained theoretically about the fundamental principle to raise the living rate of young catfish.
He said in plain language everybody can understand that it is necessary to ensure good water temperature in order to raise the living rate of young catfish and that if the water temperature goes down only 0.5 degrees centigrade, it will give hindrance to the development and growth of young catfish. His lecture was consistent with the knowledge of scientific fish farming.
At the indoor fattening block he said self-feeder should be introduced into catfish breeding ponds to put the catfish farming on a scientific footing and taught the ways for it.
And he continued: It is necessary to set correct standard of feed supply according to the size of catfish and supply the feed as much as needed for the growth of catfish by using self-feeder. When an appropriate amount of feed is supplied at the fixed time, the feed consumption can be decreased and no hindrance may be given to the growth of catfish.
Senior official Ri Kum Song at the Ministry of Fisheries said the "lecture on fish farming" given by Kim Jong Un at the Sunchon Catfish Farm was introduced into all fish farms across the country, and continued:
"When he called at the Sunchon Catfish Farm, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un looked round the pond of vinyl sheet built outdoors to produce catfish even in winter. Then, it will be possible to breed catfish in winter, too, he added. And he gave concrete instructions on the issue of advancing the cycle of catfish production and on the sci-tech targets to be attained in the field of pisciculture."
The "lecture on fish farming" represented the speculation and efforts of Kim Jong Un who is always concerned to improve the people's diet.
