Human history tells of many a tale about great men. However, humankind has never known such a peerless patriot as Chairman Kim Jong Il who devoted every moment of his whole life for the people.
The people ardently wished he would take a rest at least on his birthday.
But, even on his birthdays that only come once a year, he found his own happiness in the joys and happiness of the people and continued his tireless journeys of field guidance. During these days, he left innumerable episodes that pulls at the people’s heartstrings.
On February 16, 1975, Chairman Kim Jong Il was again working late into the night. When the worried officials reminded him that it was his birthday, he replied that he doesn’t celebrate his birthday as he is a soldier of President Kim Il Sung and that we should celebrate only the birthday of President Kim Il Sung as the greatest national holiday. He added that it is the job of a solider to work revolution.
On February 16, 2003, he travelled a long distance in the blinding snow to visit a frontline KPA unit. He congratulated the service personnel of the unit offering the food he had personally brought with him.
Cherishing the ardent wishes of the people, he spent his entire revolutionary career among the people and service personnel and accelerated his pace for the country and revolution.
On one of his birthdays, our art producers and artistes presented a song about his great devotion for the country and people. They sang of their true feelings that they long for his benevolent smile with the early morning sunrise.
After the unexpected and sudden demise of Chairman Kim Jong Il , respected Comrade Kim Jong Un recalled that he continued his field guidance even on his birthday for the country and people without a moment’s rest. He continued that he would not be so grieved if he could have prepared his 70 th birthday for him.
Chairman Kim Jong Il journeyed across the country even on his birthdays and holidays for national prosperity and for our people’s happiness. Our people will forever convey his immortal exploits and surely build on this land the most powerful country, as he desired, under the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
