Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wang Yajun hosted a reception on February 12 at the embassy on the occasion of the lunar New Yearʼs Day in 2026.

Present there on invitation were Comrade Kang Yun Sok, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, Comrade Mun Song Hyok, Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Comrade Pak Myong Ho, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, officials concerned and foreign diplomatic representatives and military attaches in the DPRK and their spouses.

Staff members of the Chinese embassy, Chinese guests staying in the DPRK and Chinese residents were also present.

The participants watched a video recording of the external revolutionary activities of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who attended the celebrations of the 80 th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese Peopleʼs War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and held a historic DPRK-China summit and talks.

Speeches were made at the reception.

The ambassador said that under the wise leadership of the WPK headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un , the DPRK people celebrated the 80 th founding anniversary of the WPK with splendor and successfully carried out all the tasks of the five-year plan set forth at the Eighth WPK Congress by dint of single-minded unity, thus making great progress in various fields.

It is the steadfast policy of the Chinese party and government to successfully defend, consolidate and develop the traditional China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations, he said, expressing the will to thoroughly implement the important common understanding made by the top leaders of the two countries and thus advance the socialist cause of the two countries and defend the happiness of the two peoples and the regional peace and stability.

Comrade Kang Yun Sok noted that the historic DPRK-China summit meeting held in September last year put the bilateral relations onto a new stage of development. And he expressed the will to make joint efforts with the Chinese comrades to develop the DPRK-China friendship in line with the noble intention of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries in the new year, too.

He congratulated the Chinese people on having splendidly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese Peopleʼs War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and fulfilled the 14 th five-year plan. And he hoped that they would achieve new successes in the work for comprehensively building a modern socialist state under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Xi Jinping as its core this year marking the 105 th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China.

The participants toasted the health of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and esteemed Comrade Xi Jinping and the steady development of the DPRK-China relations of friendship and cooperation.

Prior to the reception, they watched stunts introducing the traditional culture of the Chinese people.
