The embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in China gave a reception on the 13th on the occasion of the lunar New Year's Day in 2026.
Invited to the reception were Peng Qinghua, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, and officials of relevant sectors including the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Justice and the People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
Present there were Kim Tong Bom, charge d'affaires ad interim of the DPRK in China, and staff members of his embassy.
Addressing the reception, Kim Tong Bom said the traditional DPRK-China friendship provided, developed with sincerity and bequeathed by the leaders of the old generation of the two countries as a precious strategic legacy has entered a new high stage of development under the direct concern and leadership of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries today.
Peng Qinghua, in his speech, said the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea to be held before long will unfold a grand blueprint for building the Party and the state of Korea, and expressed the belief that the Korean people would open a newer phase of socialist cause in firm unity around the WPK headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
