Pyongyang, March 22 (KCNA) -- Under the guidance of the great Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, the capital city of Pyongyang has undergone transformation with each passing day. The people in the DPRK are now commemorating the day when a project for building 50 000 flats in Pyongyang was launched.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un ensured that the above-said construction project was adopted as a policy at the Eighth WPK Congress, and led the grand construction campaign every year to bring about a great heyday of the capital city construction.

On March 23, 2021, he attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the building of 10 000 flats in the capital city and expressed the belief that through the construction of 50 000 flats, we would not only change the appearance of the capital city once again but also usher in a new era of advance and dynamic movement developing socialist construction step by step with confidence.

He guided the capital city construction as a whole to be the main front of offensive symbolizing a period of new upsurge and transformation in socialist construction.

In the period from the construction of Songhwa Street to the building of 10 000 flats at the fourth stage in the Hwasong area, he visited the construction sites for more than ten times and made painstaking efforts to apply the people-first architectural idea of our Party in the construction of each building. And he personally completed thousands of layouts.

Thanks to his energetic guidance, legendary miracles were created one after another in the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang.

Built as the first entity in just one year was Songhwa Street with 160-odd super-high-rise and high-rise apartment houses, public buildings and service amenities.

A terraced residential district appeared on the bank of the River Pothong, as a good standard and model of residential districts in the country.

The military-civilian builders finished the first-stage housing construction project in the Hwasong area within one year once again, presenting scenes of moving into new flats peculiar to our state.

The building of 10 000 flats at the second stage in the Hwasong area and the construction of Jonwi Street were successfully completed in 2024.

Modern super-high-rise and high-rise apartment houses and unique commercial and public catering service bases sprang up in the Hwasong area in the following year, greeting the auspicious event of inauguration for the third time.

The 10 000 flats at the fourth stage and Saeppyol Street were inaugurated in February 2026, brilliantly concluding the final stage struggle of the five-year plan for the capital city construction. As a result, the Hwasong area has turned into a modern administrative district, more brilliantly shining as a symbol and synonym of new miracles of invincible socialist Korea along with the great era of Kim Jong Un . -0-
