Medical workers of the Breast Tumour Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital offer field service at the lowest curative and preventive establishments.
Every March and September designated as the months for medical checkup, they visit the said facilities to check on the health of women and take relevant measures for their treatment.
In the period, the household doctors across the country conduct medical checkups of the women residents living in the areas in their charge, and they inform the institute of the results through the relevant units.
The preventive checkup department of the institute maintains a database of the health information of all women across the country, whether they live in the capital city or not, and whether they live nearby or far. Based on that information, the institute organizes teams to give field checkup and treatment to women in different regions.
Last year, too, they visited different parts of the country to give medical examination and treatment, provide the female war veterans and honoured disabled soldiers with tonics and explain the disease-related common knowledge in plain language.
This year they have made rounds of the lowest curative and preventive units in Pyongyang including Phyongchon District to give routine checkup to women, while providing technical guidance for the household doctors.
A woman from Sunan District said she recovered her health after receiving an operation at the institute shortly ago thanks to the regular checkup system designed to take preventive measures to detect women’s diseases in their early stage.
