Forests provide the people with raw materials and food and help increase agricultural productivity and protect river basin. They also play a critical role in mitigating climate change.
Each year, however, many species go extinct as a result of forests being destroyed by human activities for existence and other factors, and global warming is accelerating.
For this reason, many countries are undertaking forest conservation activities, including tree planting, and efforts are directed to moving towards a sustainable bioeconomy.
Reforestation is proceeding apace in the DPRK.
The afforestation efforts have resulted in the creation of a large area of forests over the past decade.
A huge number of saplings are coming out of modern tree nurseries in provinces.
This has helped facelift the forests, promote the economic development and improve the people’s living standards.
Regional-industry factories built in the cities and counties in a couple of years are turning out various kinds of products by using wild fruits and edible and medicinal herbs from the forests in their region.
Now the forestry sector is working to create raw-material forests for regional industry and minimize damage by disasters in order to increase forest resources.
