The past five years are a period of changes when a new era of transformation has been ushered in to be etched in the history of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Despite the complex and harsh situation at home and abroad, the WPK dynamically led the all-people general advance towards the implementation of the line and important tasks set forth by the Eighth Party Congress in January 2021, ensuring a remarkable progress in the efforts to achieve national prosperity and promote people’s wellbeing.

It adopted a policy on readjusting the national economy as a whole and developing it in a balanced way, established a well-knit guidance system to this end and completed in the main the five-year plan for the development of the national economy put forward by its Eighth Congress.

It also unveiled the Regional Development 20×10 Policy designed to build regional-industry factories in a completely new and advanced manner. Fully supported by the people across the country, this policy was expanded into a multi-faceted and wider-ranging policy for regional development embracing science, public health and civilized life.

As a result, a change was made to the structure of grain production, agricultural productivity got a boost and lots of rural villages were remodelled nationwide.

The 50 000-flat construction project in Pyongyang was pushed forward year after year with the result that new flats and streets were built to greatly exceed the preset plan and tens of thousands of dwelling houses were newly built in the Komdok area of South Hamgyong Province and the flood-hit areas of North Phyongan, Jagang and Ryanggang provinces respectively.

A real step forward was made in strengthening the country’s sci-tech capabilities and putting education and public health on an advanced footing. Projects proceeded apace to seek innovative development in different sectors.

The achievements made during the term of the Eighth Party Central Committee are a brilliant fruition of the outstanding leadership and painstaking efforts of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is leading a new era of comprehensive national development, shouldering the destiny of the country and people and the responsibility for the present and future prosperity.

This can be evidenced by the 50 000-flat construction project in Pyongyang alone. Saying that the housing construction in the capital city is a long-cherished desire the Party and state are trying to fulfil as a top-priority task and a promise they made with the people, Comrade Kim Jong Un led the effort to make the capital city construction a major project symbolic of the new period of a great upsurge and turn in socialist construction.

Over the five years, from the Songhwa Street project to the fourth-stage 10 000-flat project in the Hwasong area, he visited the construction sites over ten times to indicate the direction and ways to solve the problems arising in the construction. In the period he went over thousands of layouts to finish them.

He examined layouts and artist’s impressions of flats even late at night or at dawn and made his way to the construction sites again and again so as to open up new horizons for steady development of socialist civilization in construction. Thanks to his energetic guidance a new construction legend could be created in the 50 000-flat construction project.

At the Ninth Party Congress held in February, he indicated tasks to consolidate the successes of the struggle for pioneering the era of comprehensive development and continue to lead them to a greater result.

Today the Korean people are all out for the implementation of the new programme set forth by the Ninth Party Congress closely united behind Comrade Kim Jong Un .
