In April Juche 71 (1982), President Kim Il Sung said to an official of Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan) that our socialism has been built in Korean style, not copying from others.

He said in the following vein: It is one of important requirements of the Juche idea to conduct the revolutionary struggle and construction in its own way, not following others’ fashion, but in keeping with the specific situation of a country and its people’s demand. Everything will go well only when he or she does it his or her own way. That is why the world progressive peoples want to follow and learn the Juche idea.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said as follows: The Workers’ Party of Korea advanced the slogan “Let us live our own way!” This is precisely Juche, independence and self-reliance and herein lie our dignity, pride and honour.

In last April, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un made a historic policy speech, titled, “On Socialist Construction and the Internal and External Policies of the Government of the Republic at the Present Stage”, in which he said: Whatever wind may blow and whatever challenges and difficulties may lie ahead, our Republic will, in the future, too, make no concession or compromise over the issues concerning the fundamental interests of our State and people. It will resolve everything on the strength of self-reliance and self-development, stepping up the building of a powerful socialist country in our own way and by our own efforts.

It is the principled stand the DPRK has consistently maintained from the very day of its founding to firmly establish Juche in the revolutionary struggle and construction and solve all problems in its own way. It reflects the thoroughgoing independent spirit of the DPRK government to make the revolution and construction in its own way and its steadfast will to solve all problems in favour of its people’s interests by its own efforts, whatever wind may blow and no matter how the situation may change.

Today, the Korean people are speeding up the advance of the revolution, kindling the flames for increased production to implement the objective of the five-year strategy for national economic development.

The DPRK unfolded a grand blueprint for building an economic power, in which it stressed the need to strictly adhere to the principle of relying on its own way and efforts. It is because the principle makes it possible to become the full-fledged master of its own destiny, to bring about a great leap forward by overtaking others at one go-off, and to beat the world.

Based on this principle, the DPRK is further consolidating its independence and Juche character of the national economy and turning out famous products and commodities in recent years even in the face of vicious economic sanctions and blockade of the imperialists. And modern bases for cultural and leisure activities resound with people’s laughter.

The road of Juche is the road to eternal victory and prosperity and we will live in our own way—these are the steadfast faith and will of the Korean people.

They will as ever do everything their own way in vigorously carrying forward the current general onward march.
