A meeting of children took place at Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace on Wednesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
It was attended by officials of the Education Commission and the Grand People’s Study House and other relevant officials, schoolchildren, diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations and missions including the Representative of the UNICEF mission here.
Speeches were made at the meeting.
The speakers said the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted on November 20, 1989 to provide the children with a better world whose peaceful, equal, safe and clean environment is guaranteed.
Saying that it is a very important matter related to the future and destiny of a country to successfully bring up the rising generation, they stressed that it is necessary to further strengthen exchange and cooperation in various fields including care of the children’s health and nursing and upbringing of them.
The participants enjoyed an art performance given by the art group members of the Palace and watched a video on the new generation in the DPRK who are happily growing up under the care of the socialist system. They also saw the photos and pictures on display.
