Mass-based sports activities were held in the DPRK on January 12 to mark the first sports day of the New Year Juche 109 (2020).
Ministries of Agriculture, Land and Maritime Transport and others, and national agencies organized volleyball, table tennis, shooting games and other sports activities.
Industrial establishments and educational institutions in Pyongyang held various mass-based sports activities, enlivening the mood of the first sports day.
Working people in different parts of the country held various sports activities.
Officials and workers held group running, mass rhythmic exercise and health-promoting Taekwon-Do at the squares in Sinuiju, Kanggye and Hamhung and Chongjin Stadium, and industrial establishments in Phyongsong and Haeju cities played volleyball, basketball, table tennis and other sports games.
Those of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex, Ryongsong Machine Complex, September Textile Mill and other units played sports and amusement games.
Earlier, colourful sports games took place on January 11 at Chongsan Cooperative Farm in Kangso District, Tanggok Cooperative Farm in Kangnam County and other rural communities.
