Earthworm is a good source of protein-rich feed.
It has been made clear that, in case a chicken is fed with an autolysed earthworm, it absorbs as much nutritive substances as those included in five earthworms. As a result,, the poultry units are positively introducing this method.
To this end, earthworm must be detoxified before autolysis. In the past, its poisonous substances were neglected.
The Sopho Chicken Farm had used earthworms only as protein-rich feed by artificially proliferating them. It has recently developed and introduced a new veterinary medicine of stamping out chicken ticks with toxic materials produced in the course of autolysing earthworms.
The medicine is as good as an imported medicine in terms of extermination rate and its production cost is also much cheaper than the latter.
The poultry sector is making proactive efforts to introduce the medicine throughout the country.
