North Hwanghae Province located in the midwestern part of Korea is paying close attention to the management of sanctuaries.
At present, the province has several sanctuaries for useful animals and plants, including Taegaksan and Kumsubong sanctuaries.
Last year alone, it released thousands of pheasants and hundreds of roe deer there. From March to July, the period for protecting useful animals, it is carrying on the work to create conditions favourable for the protection and increase of animals in over ten temporary game reserves set in cities and counties.
According to seasonal features, relevant caretakers in the sanctuaries and forest rangers are bringing various supplementary feed and salt to the fixed feeding grounds and other places as suited to the living way and growth of animals. They are also installing notice boards and signposts concerning the protection of useful animals, while giving wide publicity to laws among residents and tightening supervision and control.
