Son Jong Guk, resident in neighbourhood unit No. 6, Sinhung-dong No. 2, Kusong City in North Phyongan Province, is a special-class honoured disabled soldier.
He has enjoyed a happy life under the benefits of the State that pursues the policy of taking warm care of disabled soldiers.
But, he began to have a weight on his mind from several years ago as his wife fell ill from an obstinate gynecological disease.
Informed of the fact that her disease grew worse in late November last year, a doctor of the clinic in charge of his household visited them in haste and made a diagnosis before sending her to the city hospital. Medical workers of the hospital held a consultation and gave her a dispatch note to the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.
Son’s couple got aboard a train bound for Pyongyang.
At Pyongyang Railway Station, they were greeted by a woman unfamiliar to them. That was Kim Jong Ok, head of neighbourhood unit No. 29, Tongsin-dong No. 1, Tongdaewon District of Pyongyang, who heard the news of their arrival from her eldest daughter working at the maternity hospital.
During the whole period of her medical treatment, Kim took warm care of Son’s wife with a sense of her elder sister.
An aged roommate Kim Son Hui took parental care of Son’s wife, and her son and daughter-in-law prepared various foodstuffs and dishes for the patient.
Medical workers of the hospital, Kim Jong Ok, Kim Son Hui and her family members, and unknown drivers who took warm care of the patient were all strangers to Son’s couple.
The day when his wife left the hospital, Son Jong Guk said: I keenly felt once again the advantages of our socialist system overflowing with noble virtues and warm affection at the sight of tenderhearted people who have taken warm care of us as their own flesh and blood.
