Ri Yong Chol, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR), met with Mr. Bounthanongsuk Chantalath, Acting Director General of the Department of Asia, Pacific and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the LPDR, on September 17.

Expressing sympathy over the damage caused by recent typhoons and floods in the DPRK, the Acting Director General said that he hopes the lives of the people in the affected areas would be settled at the earliest date under the seasoned leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea headed by Comrade Kim Jong Un .

He said that LPDR would, as ever, invariably support and encourage the struggle of the Korean people for building a powerful socialist country and achieving peaceful reunification of the country, and he indicated his strong willingness to further expand and develop the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation with the DPRK provided by the preceding leaders of the two countries.
