It is the desire of humankind to live and develop independently along the road chosen by itself.

However, the acts of interference in sovereign states’ internal affairs are becoming serious right from the beginning of this year, thus raising grave concern of the international society.

On January 8, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister exposed and blamed the Western countries for their outrageous acts of interference such as freezing the legitimate financial sources of the country and instigating anti-government forces to overthrow his government.

Figures in the political, social and press circles of Uganda also exposed the evidences about the Western diplomats who had spread groundless rumor about the general election result and contacted with a member of opposition party who plotted a riot, and raised their voices of condemnation that the Western diplomats are attempting to play nose-poking politics like a farther scolding his son.

These acts of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries by the West are misdeeds of infringing upon the sovereignty in clear contravention of diplomatic practices and international laws.

The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations stipulates that it is the duty of all diplomats to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving State and not to interfere in the internal affairs of that State.

The “Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Co-operation among States in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations” – universally recognized by the international society – also expressly indicates  that no State or group of States has the right to intervene in the internal or external affairs of any other State and that no State shall organize, assist or finance subversive activities directed towards the overthrow of the regime of another State.

It cannot be interpreted otherwise but a double-faced act that the Western countries – boasting themselves as law-governed states and claiming about the observation of UN resolutions and international laws at every single opportunity – are committing an interference in others’ internal affairs and an arbitrariness in an undisguised manner.

They are putting their own values and interests above the international laws and attempting to fish in troubled waters by dividing and disintegrating the sovereign states and independent forces. These are the root causes of misery that undermine the international relations and order based on the mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefits among states and plunge the humanity into an unprecedented tragedy.

Every country aspiring after independence and justice should never tolerate any kind of interference in internal affairs by uniting and cooperating with each other on the international arena, and actively strive to achieve genuine international justice based on the principle of respect for sovereignty.
