The bronze mirror with fine line pattern belongs to the ancient times of Korea.
Song Chol, Section Chief of the Archaeological Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences, says:
"The bronze mirror with fine line pattern is typical relics in the culture of the latter period of Ancient Joson. In many cases, it was discovered in the relics of tombs in the central western part around Pyongyang and in the southern part. The mirror is widely known to the world as a contemporary masterpiece for its unique patterns and delicate carving."
The front side of the mirror was lustrous to be reflected well and its back side was decorated with unique patterns.
The brim of the back side was framed with a rim whose section was similar to semicircle or triangle, in which delicate fine line patterns were carved.
The triangular, circular and other geometric
patterns are elaborate; lots of circles and straight lines are not distorted or tangled.
The bronze mirror with fine line pattern shows the high level of the ancient bronze workmanship of Korea through its shape, minute formation of countless fine lines and delicacy of casting technique.
